Add Of The Wish List

March 22, 2008

I usually keep a text file on my desktop of things I would like to have. I’ve found this isn’t as efficient as I’d like it to be because I can’t always seem to remember why I wanted something or how I was going to use it. I’ve added the Wish List Page which will list my ideas and my thoughts on them for things that I possibly want. The posts will probably be scattered with random thoughts. But I think this will work much better helping me to remember and research. This will be more beneficial to me than it will to you. I’ve also password protected it, but if you’d like to take a peek, let me know and ill give you the password.

Vista SP1 – Not So Special

March 20, 2008

Microsoft is cruel, it releases a service pack on the night before I have 2 tests.

I stayed up all night.

Vista SP1 was released Tuesday (03.18.08), I was able to install it late that night. The install took a little shy of an hour, probably due to the slow network. After installing it the only real differnce i could see is 2 things;

  1. My system properties used to say I had 3.25 (x86 limitations) gigs of ram in the system. When I have 4 gigs physically. But now the system properties says that I have 4. Which at first made me happy because I thought for some reason my computer was able to defy the x86 limitations….yeah… not so much. In the task manager I still have 3.something available. But whatever, it looks better.
  2. The file transfers are SO much faster. Transferring files locally or over the network is GREATLY improved

Other than that. Eh, thats about it?

Maybe I’ll find something great later?

And Then There Were Two

March 12, 2008

Good Things Come In Two’s…

Examples:

  • Boobs (Thanks Lindsay)
    • Lindsay Lohan
  • Monitors (Thanks Samsung)
    • Desktop Picture

I first saw dual monitors in action when my cousin Chris got them a few years ago. I’ve always thought the idea was brilliant, because It really makes working on the computer much easier and more efficient, whether you’re multitasking or not. Shortly after seeing his I asked if I could have them setup at my job at the time and it really increased my productivity. So needless to say it’s always been a goal of mine to have a dual monitor setup, but I’ve never been able to accomplish it the way I’ve really wanted it until now. I used to use dual monitors with my company laptop and my old Samsung 910T monitor, but it wasn’t perfect. I ended up selling that 910T to my roommate back in August and moving to the Samsung 205BW which was a wide screen. I’d been using that monitor at school since August with no problems, but it just wasn’t enough for me. So this past Christmas (2007) I decided to get myself another one (as you can see above).

It’s so much better having two, yes granted I have very limited desk space at school, but I could careless, I can get so much more done on these things. Take a Look at what my desktop looks like clean.

Dual Monitor Desktop - Clean

Now your probably wondering, “WHAT THE HELL CAN YOU POSSIBLY NEED THAT MUCH SPACE FOR?!” Well… The simple answer is this…

Dual Monitor Desktop - Full

The pictures link to their own pages so you can have a better view.

Overall it was well worth the investment. I find it difficult to get things done on systems that don’t have a dual monitor setup because I’m just so used to it.
